New York Knicks Announce A Roster Move
USA TODAY Sports

Duane Washington Jr. is coming off a season where he played 31 games for the Phoenix Suns and averaged 7.9 points, 1.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists per contest while shooting 36.7% from the field and 36.0% from the three-point range.

In February, he signed with the New York Knicks on a two-way deal but only played for their G League team (Westchester Knicks).

On July 24, the Knicks announced that they had waived the former Ohio State star.

In five G League games, Washington Jr. averaged 16.6 points, 1.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists per contest while shooting 42.4% from the field and 36.8% from the three-point range.

The 23-year-old initially went undrafted in 2021 and spent his rookie season playing for the Indiana Pacers

His career averages are 9.1 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists per contest while shooting 39.1% from the field and 37.1% from the three-point range in 79 regular season games.

Considering he has proven to be a solid shooter, Washington Jr. could be a good pickup for an abundance of teams around the league.

As for the Knicks, they are coming off a season where they went 45-37 and finished as the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference.

They beat the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the NBA playoffs, which was their first time winning a playoff series since the 2013 season.

However, the Knicks lost in the second round to the Miami Heat in six games.
